Old-fashioned
Newfoundland Room
The
old-fashioned Newfoundland room with its attractive colours and
canopied bed is a great favourite with children who are travelling
with their parents. |
| The bed is home for a number
of stuffed animals which match the bear-shaped floor rug. |
 |
The
original Newfoundland outport furnishings, which were inherited
from Jim's Uncle, have been painted and stenciled Scandinavian style.
|
 |
Grownups who stay in the room
are just as delighted as the children. For them the furniture is
fascinating. Two of the more interesting pieces are the washstand
and the sea chest. The chest was commonly used by Newfoundlanders
going to sea for long periods of time to pursue the fishery. |
The
4-piece ensuite bathroom, decorated in primary colours with fish
and bird motifs, is a delight in itself. |
|
|
|
One little girl was so captivated
with the bathroom that she insisted on sleeping there! |
The
queen-size bed with its crisp, bright bed linens is a welcome site
for any traveler at the end of a long day.
"Charming
and creative" is the comment we hear about this enchanting
room. |
